The Pow Wow Trail is one of Minnesota's most challenging and rewarding backpacking routes — 30 miles of rugged terrain through the BWCA's southeastern wilderness south of Isabella Lake. No motorboats, no outfitters, no canoe traffic: just trail, forest, and campsites built for hikers. The route is unmaintained in sections and genuinely difficult. Bring a compass and plan for wet feet.
